2026 Year in Review Photos: Build a Recap Page and Gift It
Every December we promise to organize the year's photos. By January it's thousands of photos with no names. You can build a recap in one afternoon, with the ten that matter.
A year-in-review photo page on Memoryiit is a page with the 10 photos that tell your year, a short text and a song, with a link and QR code to keep or give to someone. You check the private preview before publishing.
Why make a year in review, and not just an album?
An album shows what happened. A recap picks what mattered. The difference is removing 90% and telling the year with 10%. Looking at it this way helps you see what was worth it, and it makes an easy gift for the people who were in it with you.
How do you build a year in review with your phone photos?
Think of a timeline. The process:
- Open the gallery from January to December. Scroll once, without deleting. Mark the ones that made you smile.
- Choose ten. One a month makes twelve; ten is stronger. Pick by how it felt, not by quality.
- Write one line per photo. Where, with whom, what happened. One sentence.
- Close with what you learned. One line about the year: “I learned that...”
- Pick the song of the year. The one you played the most.
2026 started with fear and ended with a full table. If I had to sum it up: I learned to ask for help, to say no, and to eat dessert first. Thank you to everyone in these photos.
Gift ideas in video
Can I give my recap to someone as a gift?
Yes. Instead of “my year,” make “our year”: choose the photos where the person appears and end with what you're grateful for. It's an easy gift to send from afar and it needs no wrapping.
What text goes in the recap?
Write to the January you. What didn't they know was coming? What did they fear that turned out fine? A conversational tone with yourself usually sounds honest.
Is it worth doing as a family?
Very much. Ask each person at home for one photo and put everything on one page. At dinner, show it on the TV and let everyone comment.
